Inconsistencies in web design costs (pricing) in Uganda
About a month earlier a customer asked me for what good reason some web design costs vary, Some companies charge highly for website design, while others charge cheaply? Well, costs are madly unique in the web design business. Some are cheap while others are genuinely costly. I was as of late a customer had posted a custom web design project and was searching for an accomplished company to execute it. We bid UGX 4,000,000/ – on his task while someone else bid UGX 500,000/ – on a similar undertaking. The customer asked me for what reason I’m so costly than the other individual.
I revealed to him that web design costs resemble a consulting business. Your budget plan decides the nature of the assistance you get. The nature of a website created at UGX 10M can’t be equivalent to a website created at UGX 2M with similar requirements.
At the end of it all, it is all about sufficient results. Pay more and get more quality. Payless and get less quality. In my own opinion, I think you should go with a company that does the best. If you are looking for the best quality, then a sufficient budget must be one of the factors.
Building a website will basically involve three major stages and these include:
- Buying a domain name for your website
- Designing and development
- Buying a Web Hosting Server

I recently worked with a client who wanted a dynamic website for his business company and here is how I charged him:
- Domain name cost: UGX 100,000/ –
- Hosting, Design and Development Cost: UGX 1,500,000/ –
- Total Costs: UGX 1,800,000/ –
Basic website design range from UGX 800,000/ – to UGX 1,200,000/ – . Anyway websites have no unique highlights like structures and have a Content Management System [CMS].
Custom websites developed from scratch can cost as high as UGX 30,000,000/- depending on the number and complexity of requirements. Rumors have it that Uganda’s Vision Group hired an Indian Software Company called 4CPlus who developed for them the New Vision and Bukedde at UGX 100M and UGX 70M respectively (source ictguy.com).
Just because you purchase a basic web design package, however, doesn’t mean you’re receiving a lower-performing website. Instead, you’re buying a site that correlates to your size, needs, and goals, versus paying for features that you don’t need.
